Robert Soliz began training in martial arts when he was 8 years old. His first venture into the martial arts was in the Korean art of Taekwondo. After many years of diligent training, he achieved the rank of 3rd degree black belt. Not long after that, he began training with Alvis “Hound Dog” Solis in both the Filipino Martial Arts and Jun Fan Jeet kune Do.
In 1997 he attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. While there, he began training with Carlos Machado. He achieved the rank of blue belt just before returning back to Houston after graduating from SMU.
